USB Board of Education Development Board

USB Board of Education Development Board

Description:

A Mini-B USB cable is included with the board so it's ready to go right out of the package. The new Board of Education USB programming board (Rev. A) allows you to connect with the USB ports on your desktop or laptop. The remaining features of the BOE-USB are shared with the BOE-Serial version.

The BOE was originally designed in coordination with our educational customers to teach microcontroller programming and this remains today as the most popular application. The majority of the Stamps in Class student guides (i.e. Robotics with the Boe-Bot) requires a BASIC Stamp 2 module with a Board of Education carrier board. Even if you aren't using our SIC curriculum, the ease of use and expandibility make the BOE an ideal project board for any BASIC Stamp 2 microcontroller experimentation.

One of the more recent and most convenient additions to the BOE is a power switch located in the middle/bottom portion of the board. The handy power switch on the BOE allows you to keep the power jack connected while selecting 3 options which include:

(0) Position = OFF
(1) Position = Power to everything except the servo connectors
(2) Position = Power to everything

Another new feature for 2004 was the placement of a jumper near the servo connectors. This jumper will select either Vdd (5 V) or Vin (unregulated input voltage) to power the servos.

Main Features of BOE-USB:

  • Mechanically interlocked power supply to prevent dual connection of wall-pack and 9-volt battery
  • USB connector for BS2-IC programming
  • P0 - P15 I/O pins, Vdd and Vss connections brought adjacent to 5.1 x 3.5 cm (2" x 1 3/8") breadboard area
  • Includes set of ten (10) color-coded 22 gauge wires
  • Female 10-pin dual row connector for optional AppMods (more breadboard space)
  • Traces on top of the board show connections between BS2-IC and breadboard connections
A BASIC Stamp module or Javelin Stamp module is not included with this programming board.

Note: Correct driver installation is handled through a live Internet connection when using Win XP.
